Nature Tour Sites

KALAW

Kalaw is situated in the western part of the Shan Plateau, very popular in British times for its fantastic hill station. You can still see the colonial influence in the beautiful Tudor Style houses that remain. Kalaw weather is very cool because of its altitude, 1320 metres above sea level. So it is very nice for hiking among a lush vegetation of pine trees and bamboos.

The best thing to do in this area is to see all the mountain area and to visit the hill tribes and discover their way of life. Accommodations are available and it is a perfect place to mark the beginning for the hiking to the Palaung villages.

KYAING TONG

This area is very famous for the ethnic tribes with colorful dresses and the nature beauty that surrounds it. We can point out the Spa, Naung Tong Lake, Su Taung Pyi Monastery. You can also find especial lacquer ware and weaving factories. You can find different tribes with distinct clothes with a great variety of colors. There are Gon, Lwe, Li, Wa, Lah Hu, Thai Nay, Shan, Li Shaw, Li Su, Palaung, Akha. When you arrive you can see their ways of life in their villages and their beautiful tribal dances. This mountain area is situated in the eastern Shan state.
 

Pyin Oo Lwin

It is very popular because of its altitude, 1000 meters above sea level. This hill station is nice place with great weather, delightful and there is a colonial atmosphere with very nice vegetation made up from pine trees, eucalyptus and silver oak trees. You can discover the beautiful botanical gardens founded by Mr Roger, the Pwe Kauk Water fall around 8 km from the town where it is very popular to enjoy a picnic and the Peik Chin Myaung Cave.
 

Hsi Baw

According to ancient history, this old Shan town dates back to 58 BC. The people pronounce this town as Thibaw and the last king from Myanmar named himself after this town. (1875-85 AD).The old palace made from wood was destroyed during the World War but other interesting things can be visited like the Sawbwa residence build by Sawbwa Sao Ohn Kya who ruled Hsipaw from 1928 to 1938.
 

Myitkyina

Located Situated in northern Myanmar, the Kachin State, is full of dense vegetation, stunning mountains with forests and important snowy peaks. Here we find the train station that is farther north, to 919 miles from Yangon. Here is your birth Ayeryawaddy the great river, the confluence of two tributaries and Malikha Meikha to become the Myitsone which then becomes the great river. Worth a visit.
 

Puta O

Situated in the North of Mytkyina, in the Kachin State, with mountain tops full of snow. Famous for being the base camp for climbers who want to climb the Mt. Khakhaborazi. The Rawan, lisu, Jingphaw and the Kachin tribes also live in this area. We find incredible exotic flora and fauna, especially a wide variety of beautiful orchids.
 

Popa Mountain Natural Park

It was opened in 1989 and you can find a great variety of animals like the wild dog, wild pig, deer, jungle cat and around 140 species of birds. You can also find the rare leaf monkey and other 150 species of other monkeys.
 

Hlawga Wildlife Park

It was opened in 1982 and can be observed the Thamin, different varieties of deer in the wild and also picnic sites, elephant rides and boat rides.
 

National Botanical Gardens

These gardens were opened in 1915 and have a great variety of resident forest birds, small mammals. It is very interesting if you like Botany.

Inlay Lake (Wetland) Sanctuary

This sanctuary opened in 1985 is situated at 2950 feet above sea level .It is one of the most beautiful sights of the area and it is full of great varieties of birds. There are also fish species as the Ngapweh and the Ngaku-Shinpa.
 

Moeyingyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary

Situated 70 miles from the city of Yangon and was opened in 1986. In 1998 a census counted 4529 birds living in this sanctuary.

Indawgyi Lake Wildlife Sanctuary

Opened in 1999, you can find very special animals like the leopard, golgen cats, the malayan sun bear, the gaur, banteng , 120 different species of birds like the pelican and the peacock.
 

Hkakaborazi National Park

This park was opened in 1996 and rare animals are found, blue sheep, the musk deer, Phet Gui, deers and also different species of insects, especially butterflies. There are different ethnic tribes living in this area like the Rawang, lisu and people from Myanmar-Tibet. You can observe their different traditions and ways of living.
 

Nat Ma Taung National Park

This park opened in 1994,and has the third highest mountain in Myanmar 10018 feet high. You have a driving distance of 10 miles or a walking distance of 15 miles from Kan-pet-let city and then hike 5 miles to the beautiful mountain.
 

Yangon Zoological Garden

This garden was opened in 1906 and has 18 species of reptiles, 60 species of birds, and 59 species of mammals. There are around 1300 species of animals in total. You can also see the skeleton of a whale of 72 feet, a pair of tusks from a white elephant that belonged to King Thibaw from 1219 and the skeleton of a stegosaurus.

Myaing Hay Wun Elephant Camp

This camp was opened in 1986. You can find elephants, Deer, wild boars wild cats, parakeets, ducks monito lizards chameleons. And other animals. It is a park rich with species.
